Hello. First, I would like to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Athens, in a middle class neighbourhood close to the city centre that I always remember very fondly. I come from a typical big Greek family where my mother was and still is the main person that cooks for all of us. I don’t know how she would make it but she was always finding the time to prepare lunch and dinner for us even though she had a full time job. Who would get the most potato chips amongst my siblings, could be a reason to cause a proper fight on the table. Don’t let me be misunderstood; we were never hungry; just greedy of whom will get the most on their dishes. And my mother, in an effort to avoid such table battles and bring calmness back, always kept trying to prepare lots of food. Mainly typical Mediterranean dishes with lots of seasonal vegetables and of course tons of olive oil. And when she was cooking, I was always nearby observing her and this set my base once I started cooking.
Once I finished with my studies in Athens, I moved to London for work with my partner. London is such a multicultural city. I am constantly stimulated everywhere I go. This of course affected my taste buds. I have started incorporating new tastes, new ingredients into my cooking, not only English ones but from all around the world; Asian, Indian, Mexican cuisines. At the same time, coming from an environmental background, I am trying to incorporate more sustainable ingredients and ways of cooking wherever possible such as considering food waste, the source of products and how far way they came from, fruit/vegetable seasonality and trying to reduce meat.
This is the main reason why I decided to start this blog. As an effort to share this culinary trip with everyone else (being realist probably meaning with my friends and my family in Greece but this is still very good for me) as well as feeling creative-so I would be very happy for you to join me!
